One of the most striking parts of Disco Elysium to me is also one of its most underappreciated. Meet the smoker on the balcony, go through his questline to converse with his witness and then converse to him again later in the Whirling-in-Rags, depending on what dialogue options you choose you will unlock a THC thought 'The ♥♥♥♥-Sexual Underground'. Internalising that thought stops your character from sexualising women and suggests that you have discovered your own latent homosexuality.

God, Kim Kitsuragi. I love this dude. He is so fascinating and multilayered. He is a gay mixed Asian (coded) in a world that has nothing but disdain for him. He became a detective and finally create some semblance of power, finally became something other than a faggot binoclard who lost his parents in the war. He is endlessly patient and profesional and blunt-edged. He is stoic but not freezing, he is a sore winner and surprisingly childish and really not so above it all. He has a sexy accent. Okay, it’s not really. Disco Elysium is a game about a lot of things. It’s about the ruin and resilience at war with each other in the depths of the human brain. It’s about a city overlooked, abandoned and race into the ground as a result of negligence. It’s about a hanged man, long-dead women with glowing lungs, and an alcoholic cop having a famous midlife crisis.
Disco Elysium, the role-playing game published in 2019 by ZA/UM, establishes you as an amnesiac. It’s not clear who you were, especially not at first.
