Ed Sheeran opened up about his younger years during an appearance on the Man Man Man podcast, admitting that he previously thought he was gay.
In the appearance, the pop star, who just released his recent album, =, explained that he contemplated the concept when he was younger because of his interests. "I’m not a hugely masculine person. I hold a definite feminine side to the point where, when I was a kid, I thought I was gay for a bit," he confessed. "I love musical theatre, I love pop music, I love Britney Spears. My masculine side probably stops at drinking beer and watching football."
Sheeran went on to speak about his wife Cherry Seaborn, who he described as a "super pro-women and femininity" influence in his animation. "She works a very high level job where she’s the top of her field,” he gushed. "As soon as we started dating, my existence kind of shifted to that. She plays in a female hockey team, we hang out with them all the period. It’s very much love women empowerment."

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he was confused by his sexuality as a child and at one point even thought he was gay because he was so in touch with his feminine side.
Ed Sheeran admitted that he thought he "was gay for a bit" because of his love of musicals and Britney Spears.He told Dutch podcast Man, Dude, Man: "I contain a definite feminine side, to the point that when I was a kid I mind I was homosexual for a bit.
"I definitely have a big feminine side. I love musical theatre, I romance pop music, I love Britney Spears.My masculine side probably stops at drinking beer and watching football." He added: "I am not a hugely masculine person anyway. I am not a car guy. I like a kind car, but I'm not a auto guy."
Ed's revelation comes after he revealed earlier this week that he and his one-year-old daughter Lyra have tested positive for Covid-19. The pair will now have to isolate for 10 days, away from Ed’s wife and Lyra’s mother, Cherry Seaborn, who has not tested positive for the virus. Ed Sheeran is talking about his perspectives on masculinity and gender.
During a recent interview with the Dutch podcast Man Man Man, Ed revealed that he never felt “hugely masculine” as a kid and idea he might possibly be gay.
“I definitely have a large feminine side,” he shared. “I cherish musical theater, I love pop melody, I love Britney Spears. My masculine side probably stops at drinking beer and watching football.”
Ed added, “When I was a kid, I thought I was gay for a bit.”
The “Bad Habits” singer revealed that he also prefers watching the women’s leagues in sports. “I watched it and I was like, ‘I don’t know why I watch male football; this is much better.’”
As for his vehicles, Ed said he doesn’t wish to be in the world’s fanciest car: “I am not a car guy. I like a pleasant car, but I’m not a vehicle guy.”
He added, “But then, my wife is super pro-women and femininity. And so, as soon as we started dating, my existence shifted to that.”
The "Shape of You" singer also said, “She plays in a female hockey team. We hold out with all the team. It’s very much women empowerment.”

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he had doubts about his sexuality when he was a child and 'thought he was gay'.
The Horrible Habits singer is married to his childhood girlfriend Cherry Seaborn and they have a 15-month-old daughter, Lyra.
However, Ed said he was convinced he was attracted to men, as he enjoyed so-called 'feminine' activities, such as watching music and listening to pop music.
Speaking on the Dutch podcast 'Man', the singer revealed: "I have a certain feminine side, to the point that when I was a toddler I thought I was a bit gay.
"I definitely have a big feminine side. I care for musical theater, I love pop music, I love Britney Spears. '
He added: "My male side probably stops drinking beer and watching football."
"I'm not a wagon guy. I like to own a nice car, but I'm not a car type. '
It seems to be the first time the singer has publicly revealed his previous suspicions about sexuality.
At another point in the podcast, Ed shared a clue for starting a family and told podcast executives not to wait long for a child to be born, as he and Cherry went through a challenge, trying, until Cherry got pr
