Montreal gay pride 2024

With a jam-packed schedule of events featuring over 240 artists, including some vast names in music and drag, there’s something for nearly everyone at Fierté Montreal Pride 2024.

The festival officially runs from Aug. 1 to 11, but Fierté is also supplemented by some earlier collective events, starting on July 25. And to accommodate the ever-growing crowds of festival-goers, a third location has been added as of this year: the Quartier des Spectacles will feature a lineup of shows, activities and events, as well as the usual locations in the Village and the Olympic Park Esplanade.

Here are just a few of the free outdoor events going on for Montreal Pride.

Afro Drag

Kicking off the launch of official Fierté Montréal events is an evening of Black drag excellence at the Esplanade Tranquille’s Loto-Québec stage, the main meeting space at the festival’s added Quartier des Spectacles location. Nine artists will take the stage for this nighttime cabaret, with a DJ position sure to get the crowd moving. (Quartier des Spectacles, Thursday, Aug. 1, 8–11 p.m.)

Transcendance

Montreal’s trans community is invited to a extraordinary 5 à 7 move party at the Esplanade Tranquille, hosted by Mis

Fierté Montréal Festival is the largest LGBTQ+ gathering in the Francophone world. In addition to the city’s welcoming LGBTQ+ bars and hangouts, Montreal is putting on a star-studded show that's focused on society and involvement.

The 2025 parade theme, "Blossom here, now!", celebrates the right of the 2SLGBTQIA+ society to grow, thrive, and love openly.

Montreal’s first Pride parade was held in June 1979 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising of 1969. La Brigade Rose organizers in Montreal drew 52 marchers in 1979. Forty years later, in 2019, total attendance at Montreal Pride topped 3 million.

This summer’s festival features live in-person performances, concerts and activities on the Esplanade of the Olympic Park—Montreal Pride’s main site—as adequately as in the LGBTQ+ Village and downtown.

Annual Fierté celebrations in Montreal wrapped up yesterday with the Pride Parade on René-Levesque Boulevard. The LGBTQ2IA+ community and their allies were out in the streets in massive numbers as the parade progressed in full festive colour — this year’s theme was We Are the Rainbow, after all — moving to party music and driven by the energy of defiance.
