While it’s hard to express whether the post–COVID vaccine period will bring on a surge of hedonism like the storied decade that followed the 1918 pandemic, a quick scan of the maskless, largely naked boys of New York’s Jacob Riis Beach on a recent weekend suggests that, at least for the local queer crowd, the ’20s are entering a entire roar, baby. And as bottoms, tops, and N95s hit the floor this Pride month, a new hookup website (that’s website, not app) has poised itself to strut past the more familiar Grindrs and Scruffs on our phones and capitalize on all the horned-up, post-quarantine energy.
Sniffies is an upstart gay one-night stand site(NSFW!) that’s seeking to harken back to the old days of cruising, giving users a freak-forward user interface that shreds the decency mandates of the app stores and allows users to instantly locate the nearest dick or ass floating (literally, as photo icons) around in their neighborhoods on a dwell updated GPS map. Thomas Roma‘s novel In The Vale Of Cashmere is probably familiar to you. It has had enjoyed widespread press and positive comments. And rightly so. It’s one of my favourite books of the year. I just did a review of the book and project for Vantage.
Roma’s arresting photos move inside the Vale of Cashmere a renowned casual hook-up spot that has, for decades, secret in plain sight on the northern side of Recent York’s prospect Park–an overgrown, knotty pocket of criss-crossing paths that is of Brooklyn’s most active gay cruising spots. The Vale of Cashmere is commonly, but not exclusively, frequented by African American and Caribbean men.
Not only are Roma’s portraits–that take us on long and repeated walks through the foliage and dappled light–wonderful so too is the contributing essay by G. Winston James. Between the two of them we are able to interaction, pass or pause with the men who meet among those trees.

To add under "Cruising info/tips," It's not uncommon for guys to sit in their cars in the parking lot and then go inside and get a booth when they meet someone they like. Guys execute hook up in the parking lot in their cars, but since the parking lot is well-lit and in view of a major road, it's probably safer to accept it inside the bookstore.
The atmosphere is casual and laid back. No problems with store clerk. No pressure to spend quarters. Folks can go in and stand around in the back for 24 hours straight (if they choose to)without any hassle from mgmt.
