Luke Thompson Opens Up About Filming Bridgerton’s Sexiest Scene Yet
Luke Thompson admits he doesn’t quite comprehend what to construct of Benedict Bridgerton’s purpose in life.
For three seasons on Netflix’s Regency-era amorous drama Bridgerton, Thompson has brought a charming mix of heart and humor to the role of the second-born son of a well-to-do, aristocratic family, whose position as the so-called spare to the heir (older brother Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey) has left him with a lack of responsibility. But that considerable autonomy is as much a blessing as it is a curse; over the years, Benedict has experimented—with art, with women, with opium—in search of his true calling in life.
“What’s interesting with Benedict is that he’s very competent at a lot of things. The struggle is more inner,” Thompson tells Harper’s Bazaar on a recent Friday afternoon in Modern York City. “The problem is more like: What does he want to do? Where does he want to go? He’s socially adept at doing the whole ton thing; he’s actually good at it. It’s just that he’s not quite sure if that’s what he wants.”

Bridgerton season 3 explores Benedict's sexuality in further depth than ever before. Here's how it differs to the books.
Bridgerton fans have long wondered if Benedict is gay or bisexual and season 3 has left viewers with even more questions.
Ever since Benedict Bridgerton befriended Sir Henry Granville in season 1, there have been theories that he is queer. While Benedict doesn't have any homosexual sexual relationships in the first two seasons of the reveal, he does witness two men having sex with each other at one of Granville's secret parties and appears to present some interest in it.
In Bridgerton season 3, Benedict meets a brand new character named Paul Suarez leading to more speculation about his sexuality. Is Benedict gay or bisexual though? Here's a break down of what happens in season 3, who Benedict ends up with in the Bridgerton books and what Luke Thompson has said about how his character identifies.

Well, Netflix finally did it. They madeBridgerton gay.
While the principal focus of Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 has undoubtedly been Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) treasure story, the last two episodes vibrated with a whole new erotic strength. That’s because after nearly three seasons of taunting that the “artsy” and “open” Bridgerton brother Benedict (Luke Thompson) might peruse as queer, Bridgerton finally let the man touch another man. Benedict came out as bisexual, embracing the fact that he could just be as easily attracted to a Paul (Lucas Aurelio) as he would be a “Patricia, Polly, or Peter, or all three at once.” A change from the distinctly straight Benedict of Julia Quinn’s books.
Meanwhile, shy Bridgerton sister Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) quiet passion with the equally withdrawn John Stirling, Earl of Kilmartin (Victor Alli) seemingly ended in a happily ever after…only for Frannie to find herself
Even though I nice of enjoyed Bridgerton Season 1 for what it was, I have to admit I wouldn’t have considered watching the latest Netflix series if it wasn’t for the queerbait in the promotional material.
This article contains certain spoilers for Bridgerton Season 1. You acquire been warned.
I fell for the queerbait. I can’t decline it. I fell for it so hard I ended up watching the entire eight episodes making up Bridgerton Season 1. I should have established better.
If the promotional team for Bridgerton hadn’t made sure to add a quick scene demonstrating a queer male hooking up with another dude, I wouldn’t have considered watching this show.
Set during the Regency, I was interested in seeing how such a series would handle lgbtq+ characters. Also, it was a Netflix show by Shondaland. There had to be at least one queer supporting character if not one in the main cast, right?
Wrong!
Turns out that the queer man the trailer made sure to include was nothing more than a minor traits who debuts during the third episode. He’s an musician named Henry Granville (Julian Ovenden) who strikes a friendship with one of the main cast members named
