Morgan Freeman is lending his instantly recognizable voice to narrate a recent Human Rights Campaign ad supporting gay marriage.

“Freedom, justice and human dignity possess always guided our journey toward a more perfect union,” the Oscar-winning star intones in a new 30-second see. “Now, across our country, we are standing together for the right of gay and female homosexual Americans to bond the person they love. And with historic victories for marriage, we’ve delivered a mandate for full equality. The wind is at our back but our journey has just begun.”

According to The Advocate, the ad began airing on Sunday and will continue throughout the week. Freeman’s narration highlights footage of same-sex couples, the Statue of Liberty and Martin Luther King‘s historic Washington rally.

The commercial coincides with a pending decision by the Supreme Court on whether it will review California’s Proposition 8, which banned homosexual marriage. A conclusion is expected to arrive Dec. 3.

Freeman is currently doing some publicity for an upcoming proposal of his and went through an interview to speak about the proposal and the process of making it.

Specifically, the project is a six part documentary called The Story Of Us. The story follows different aspects of humanity and community.

The series is also a sequel to the Emmy-nominated The Story of God, which Freeman also worked on.

As part of the process, Morgan Freeman was filming in Australia and in his interview he shared that he stopped by a gay prevent during the trip.

“It was so much fun and I thought there was this feeling of freedom. I am surprised Australia doesn’t have marriage equality.”

He later added that he danced to Sister Sledge’s "We Are Family" while in the bar.

Morgan Freeman then went further to exclaim that the key to marriage equality is representation and that it’s bringing a change in the way we think.

“I think one of the catalysts people have experienced here in America is the realization that some of their relatives are gay,

“What are you going to tell if your 14 or 15-year-old son comes and says, ‘Dad, I’m gay.”

Morgan Freeman is standing up for marriage equality in a new ad for the Human Rights Campaign. The ad celebrates the Nov. 6 victories for same-sex marriage initiatives in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington, and promotes America’s commitment to “freedom, justice, and human dignity” in order to form a more perfect union.

“America stands at the dawn of a recent day,” says Freeman in the ad. ”Now, across our country, we are standing together for the right of gay and woman loving woman Americans to marry the person they love.”

Freeman adds that the victories at the ballot box in November have “delivered a mandate for full equality.”

Maine, Maryland, and Washington became the latest three states to legalize gay marriage, while Minnesota struck down a constitutional amendment that would have defined marriage as creature between one man and one woman. There are currently nine states that legally recognize gay marriage.
