Women outnumber men at the Lipstick Lounge (1400 Woodland St., 615/226-6343, Tues.-Sat. 6:30pm-3am, Sun. 11am-7:30pm, $5-10 for events prefer karaoke and trivia night), one of two lesbian bars on the matching East Nashville intersection. This is a laid-back club with a better-than-average sound system and karaoke selection. Live harmony, pool, and wonderful food attract a crowd nearly every night. The crowds are more mixed during the week than on the weekends, when it is mostly lgbtq+ and lesbian.

Right next door to club Tribe is Play (1519 Church St., 615/322-9627 Wed.-Sun. 9pm-3am, $8 on drag show nights), the city’s highest-energy gay club, with drag shows and performances by adult-film stars. The city of Nashville is famous worldwide for many things. The main claim to fame for Music City is that it’s house to the largest country music scene and recording industry on earth! It’s also home to landmarks like the Grand Ole Opry, plus amazing bars and restaurants and a lively customs and nightlife. Nashville may be a popular tourist destination, but there are also plenty of people who name this southern urban area home. 

Despite stereotypes often mentioned about the South, Nashville is known as a warm and inviting place for members of the Queer community. The metropolis boasts several amazing gay-friendly neighborhoods to explore if you’re looking for a fresh start by moving to Nashville.

A Brief History of Nashville 

James Robertson and John Donelson founded Nashville in 1779. In 1806, Nashville was officially incorporated as a Tennessee city, and in 1843, it became the state’s capital. Nashville played a vital role in the Civil War and, after WWII, provided industrial jobs for US citizens returning from the war.

Welcome to OUTdoors Nashville - the Middle Tennessee LGBTQ adventuring club. Join us for hiking, backpacking, and camping through our local great large backyard.

OUTdoors Nashville is a judge-free Meetup open to all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels. Even though we are primarily a gay men's group, people of all identities, friends and allies are always welcome! If you own a four-legged friend that you would like to bring along feel free, provided they are on a leash, play good with others, and permitted based on location (not otherwise noted in the event’s description).

Adventuring with us starts with you, and probably the most stimulating part about our collective is that our outings are just as diverse as our members. Whether it’s leisurely day hikes around town, car camping at a state park, or multi-night backpacks in the mountains we compete to maintain an active year-round calendar.
