Gay dad and son comic
Father & Son (1995) #1-4 by Jeff Nicholson
The end is in sight!!!
That is, I can now fit the remaining Kitchen Sink books I’m covering in one window! I’ve got less than one shortbox left, and then I’m free! Free I tells ya!
Fascinating, I’m sure.
Oh, OK, Father & Son…
I’m not a Jeff Nicholson fan. I comprehend that he’s got a solid fan base and everything, but his stuff has never been my thing, so I’m dreading reading this series (even if it’s just four 24 page issues).
So this might turn into one of those Antique Man Shouts At Old Comic Publication kind of things? But let’s go.
OK, so this is one of those slacker comics that popped up after Peter Bagge’s Dislike turned out to be extremely successful?
It’s basically a sitcom, but with jokes so obvious that even a 90s sitcom wouldn’t desire to do them.
But it’s pretty professionally done?
I think my general irrational antipathy towards Nicholson’s comics (and I’ve somehow ended up reading hundreds of pages of them over the years) is that I just find his cartooning a bit creepy. There’s something about the sheen coupled
Manly Guys Doing Manly Things
Might be a place you get “sent” but the first strip jared apears he is told the size of his pecs would usually exclude him… Now, envision there was an online version of a form, with whatever comically exagerated requisites are needed…
Be honest… Wouldnt you try to fill in the form to compare yourself eith guys appreciate duke nukem?
Probably would ask previous jobs/military service… What “not fighting related” skills you have, etc… Chest size, any genetic mutation or condition (since im a gingerz that is so.ething i can fill in)
I cqn imagin people tweeting, sharing on facebook, etc… Trying to “get in”
And it would probably be too much to ask, but maybe whoever gets the most badass aplication form gets a cameo in a future comic or something…
My point is, it would be “easy”(or at least easier than making a entire comic page) to make, and it would probably make people interact with that page a bit more… Maybe make the comic apear in twitter trending topics or whatever… Make it viral… Why not?
Comic strips about being a parent usually revolve around conflicts with family members or the difficulties of raising children. It's not often that comics accept the love between parents and children in a heartwarming way, but this dad writes comics about him and his daughter that are cute and emotional at the matching time. Single father Yannick Vicente started drawing comic illustrations of his everyday life with his youthful daughter AnaƩ as a gift for her, but quickly realized he was creating them for himself as well.
Hollywood tends to romanticize single fathers in movies and thanks to many celebrity single dads, a man raising a child by himself is usually viewed quite differently than single mothers. Vicente wanted to prove dads can be just as affectionate, choosing to show real life through his illustrations like Inkollo's Daily Life of a Queer Couple. Vicente's heartwarming solo dad comics have gone viral since being posted to Facebook and Twitter, and parents all over the world can relate to the emotions depicted in these comics by Yannick Vicente. Even if you're not a parent, these cute father daughter comic strips are sure to make you smile.
Two boys together clinging, one the other never leaving....
In high university, I looked assist on those moments of perfect happiness, and tried to get my hands on the Harvey Comics I browse all those years ago (actually less than 10 years ago, but when you're 16, it seems like an eternity).
So I put an ad in the Rock Island Argus, and a very endearing Augustana student named Clay answered with an offer of five Little Max comics from 1958-1959 for a dollar each.
I never heard of Little Max, they were from before I was born, and a dollar was four times what a comic cost on the newsstand. But I bought them anyway.
It was a weird type of deja vu, enjoy looking at a photo of your parents before you were born: familiar, yet bizarre, with a story going on that you are not a part of and can't possibly realize. &
